Refund & Withdrawal Policy — Secretary42

This policy explains four distinct things, which are not the same: (1) your statutory right of withdrawal, (2) our voluntary money-back guarantee, (3) cancellation / non-renewal of a subscription, and (4) your statutory digital-product conformity (warranty) remedies. Secretary42 is published by insight 42 UG (haftungsbeschränkt); the purchase transaction is sold and processed by Paddle.com Market Limited (London, UK) as merchant of record, which carries out payment refunds.

1. Your statutory 14-day right of withdrawal (consumers)

As a consumer in the EU, you may have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts. No reason is required; a timely declaration (by the model form or any other unequivocal statement) is enough, and dispatch within the period is sufficient.

Immediate digital delivery and loss of the right. Secretary42 is digital content delivered immediately — your licence token is emailed right after purchase. For digital content not supplied on a tangible medium, the statutory withdrawal right may expire once performance begins only if, before delivery, you expressly consent to immediate performance, acknowledge that you thereby lose your withdrawal right, and receive the statutory confirmation on a durable medium.

Withdrawal instructions. You have the right to withdraw within 14 days without giving any reason, starting from the day the contract is concluded. Inform us by a clear statement (e.g. an email) of your decision; you may use the model form below, but it is not obligatory. To meet the deadline it is enough to send your communication before the period expires. For immediately-delivered digital content the right expires as described above.

Reimbursement timing for statutory withdrawal. Where a valid withdrawal applies, reimbursement must generally be made within 14 days. This is separate from the operational processing time for the voluntary guarantee in §2.

Independently of any statutory right, we also offer a voluntary money-back guarantee (§2).

2. Voluntary 14-day money-back guarantee

This guarantee is separate from, and additional to, your statutory withdrawal right (§1) and your statutory conformity remedies (§6).

  • If you are not satisfied, you may request a full refund within 14 days of your first purchase of a subscription (monthly or annual). No detailed reason is required.
  • The guarantee applies to the initial purchase. Renewals are not covered by this voluntary guarantee (but mandatory statutory rights and conformity remedies still apply — see §6); you can cancel at any time before a renewal to avoid the next charge (see §4).
  • We may decline refunds under this voluntary guarantee in cases of evident abuse (for example, repeated buy-refund cycles).

3. How to request a refund

You can request a refund by emailing support@insight42.com (for the voluntary guarantee, ideally from the address you used to purchase) or by using the link in your Paddle purchase receipt. Statutory withdrawal may also be exercised by any unequivocal declaration and is not limited to these channels. Where due, the refund is issued by Paddle to your original payment method.

4. Cancelling a subscription (non-renewal)

You can cancel at any time via the link in your Paddle receipt or the Paddle customer portal. Cancelling renewal normally stops future billing and does not by itself end your current paid subscription period, unless a refund, withdrawal, termination, or mandatory legal remedy applies. Your access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.

5. Offline licence — access after a refund, withdrawal, or termination

Secretary42 verifies your licence offline (no server check), which protects your privacy. As a consequence, when a refund, withdrawal, or cancellation is processed, it stops any future licence issuance/renewal, but a licence token already delivered to you remains technically usable until it expires and cannot be remotely disabled instantly. Tokens are kept short-lived to limit this window.

If your subscription is refunded, withdrawn, or terminated, your contractual right to use Secretary42 ends to the extent refunded or terminated. Because licence tokens are verified offline, a delivered token may remain technically usable until its expiry; this technical fact does not permit continued use after your right to use has ended.

6. Statutory conformity (warranty) remedies

Separately from withdrawal and from the voluntary guarantee, you have mandatory statutory rights for digital products under BGB §§327 ff. (conformity, updates including security updates, remedies, and — where applicable — price reduction, termination and reimbursement). These rights apply to renewals as well and cannot be waived by contract.

7. Statutory rights unaffected

Nothing in this policy limits your mandatory statutory rights as a consumer. The voluntary guarantee in §2 is in addition to those rights.

8. Dispute resolution

If we cannot resolve a complaint directly, we participate in consumer dispute resolution before the Universalschlichtungsstelle des Bundes, Zentrum für Schlichtung e.V., Straßburger Straße 8, 77694 Kehl, universalschlichtungsstelle.de. (There is no EU-ODR link — that platform was discontinued on 20 July 2025.)
